Sugandha Beach

Catch the sunset where Cox’s Bazar’s beach life stays bright after dark

Sugandha Beach

Come for the sea, stay for the sunset and the lively evening streets nearby.

Drop into Sugandha when you want the beach and the buzz of Cox’s Bazar in the same journey. Set between Laboni and Kolatoli, this central point opens onto a broad sandy shore while hotels, restaurants and transport remain close behind. Walk out in the morning for more space, or arrive later as travellers gather to watch the sun fall into the Bay. The surrounding area becomes livelier after dark, but beach structures and vendors may change under local management. Keep all sea bathing within supervised zones, check the warning flags and follow lifeguard guidance whenever the surf strengthens.

Make Sugandha part of a moving coastal itinerary. In the morning, walk north toward Laboni while the air is cooler and the sand is less crowded. Later, turn south toward Kolatoli, where the hotel district grows busier and Marine Drive begins to pull travellers toward Himchari and Inani. The three central beach points are sections of one continuous coast, but each has a different pace, and Sugandha sits neatly between them.

For an adventurous yet comfortable visit, split the day around the heat. Use the morning for a long shoreline walk, retreat to the nearby town for lunch, then return as the light softens. A clear western horizon can deliver a dramatic sunset, though cloud and haze are part of coastal weather and should never be treated as a failed trip. The changing tide, fishing activity and rush of evening visitors create their own spectacle.

Keep the experience uncomplicated and safe. Carry only what you can protect from sand and spray, settle prices before using any paid service, and stay with companions after dark. Water conditions can change faster than they appear from shore, so swim only inside marked areas and leave immediately when lifeguards or Tourist Police signal danger. Avoid disposable plastics, use bins where available and do not leave food scraps for animals. Sugandha’s appeal is the contrast: open sea in front, lively streets behind and the promise of a longer journey in either direction. Pause for the sunset, then use the surrounding restaurants and transport links to continue exploring Cox’s Bazar without losing the feeling of the coast.
