Laboni Beach

Step out of town and straight into Cox’s Bazar’s most energetic shoreline

Laboni Beach

Walk from the town centre to the sand and meet the Bay at full energy.

Make Laboni your first encounter with Cox’s Bazar. This central beach point puts the wide Bay of Bengal within easy reach of the town, creating a lively meeting place for families, first-time travellers and sunset seekers. Walk the broad sand, watch the shoreline change with the tide and stay as the afternoon sky begins to glow. Food, transport and visitor services are close by, although temporary beach arrangements can change. If you enter the water, keep the adventure inside marked and supervised zones. Beach flags, lifeguards and Tourist Police instructions matter more than how calm the waves may look from shore.

Laboni works best as a launch point for a wider day on foot. Begin near the main public entrance, then follow the firm sand as far as conditions and daylight allow. The shoreline links naturally with Sugandha and Kolatoli, so the walk can shift from an energetic town beach to quieter sections without needing another vehicle. At low tide the beach feels enormous; as water returns, the safe walking corridor narrows and the mood changes quickly.

Arrive with a simple plan: an early walk, a midday break away from the heat, and a return for sunset. During peak winter weekends, the central access area becomes crowded, so families and photographers often find more breathing room by walking a short distance from the busiest point while remaining within public, supervised zones. Keep footwear for the approach roads, protect phones and cameras from windblown sand, and agree on a meeting landmark if travelling with a group.

The beach is also an introduction to the everyday rhythm of Cox’s Bazar. Vendors, photographers and activity operators may approach visitors, but prices and services should be agreed before accepting anything. Use registered or clearly identifiable providers, keep valuables secure and contact Tourist Police if assistance is needed. Most importantly, let the warning system guide the adventure. A red flag, a lifeguard instruction or a sudden change in surf ends the swimming plan immediately. Laboni offers the thrill of arriving at Bangladesh’s best-known coast within minutes of town; enjoy that access while leaving the sand clean and the sea respected.

Plan Your Trip

  • When to Visit: Visit from November to February for cooler beach weather. Arrive soon after sunrise for a quieter walk or about an hour before sunset for Laboni at its most dramatic.
  • How to Visit: Take a rickshaw, CNG auto-rickshaw, taxi or rideshare from the airport, railway station, bus terminal or hotel zone. Once there, explore the main public stretch on foot.
  • Where to Stay: Best nearby: Hotel Kollol by J&Z Group at Laboni Point is the most convenient named base for walking to this beach. Star-rated comfort: nearby Cox’s Bazar choices include Sayeman Beach Resort at 5-star, Long Beach Hotel at 4-star and Hotel Sea Crown at 3-star. Landscape/community stay: Mermaid Eco Resort at Pechardwip suits travellers willing to move beyond town for a greener Marine Drive setting. Confirm current reviews and transport first.
