Shamlapur Beach

Follow Marine Drive deep into Teknaf’s fishing coast

Shamlapur Beach

Ride south, leave the resort crowds behind and meet a working village shore.

Keep travelling south on Marine Drive until the resort atmosphere fades into Shamlapur’s working coast. Set in the Shaplapur area of Teknaf, the beach is shaped by fishing boats, village life and a wide Bay of Bengal horizon. Walk with care around nets and landing areas, give fishers room to work and ask before photographing people. This is a scenic stop with limited tourism facilities, not a guaranteed bathing beach. Bring water, keep the shore clean and watch the weather. A planned vehicle and a firm return time are essential if you are not staying in Teknaf.

Shamlapur feels most rewarding when the road south is given as much importance as the destination. Leave Cox’s Bazar early, follow Marine Drive beyond the familiar resort belt and watch the coastline become more rural. The beach is part of a working fishing environment, so boats, nets and landing activity may shape where visitors can walk. Keep clear of equipment and allow crews to move without interruption.

Bring what a remote day trip requires: water, sun protection, charged phones and a planned vehicle. Food and visitor facilities are limited compared with Kolatoli or Sugandha, and the return to Cox’s Bazar can take longer than expected. If continuing toward Teknaf, confirm security, road and weather conditions before setting out. The safest itinerary keeps all beach exploration in daylight and sets a turnaround time before sunset.

The wide shore and fewer crowds can feel liberating, but they do not make the sea predictable. Avoid unsupervised swimming, especially near boat channels or during rough weather. Ask permission before photographing fishers and village residents, dress respectfully and purchase local refreshments without obstructing work. Carry all waste back with you and never leave plastic among nets or on the sand. Shamlapur’s adventure is not built around organised attractions; it comes from distance, motion and the feeling of reaching a coast where daily life still leads. Travel quietly, keep the plan flexible and let the Marine Drive journey reveal the changing character of southern Cox’s Bazar.

Plan Your Trip

  • When to Visit: Choose November to February for drier road conditions and cooler coastal weather. Visit in daylight and avoid any day with rough-sea or severe-weather warnings.
  • How to Visit: Reserve a reliable car or authorised local vehicle in Cox’s Bazar and follow Marine Drive south. Combine Shamlapur with other confirmed Teknaf stops, but keep generous return time.
  • Where to Stay: Best nearby: Central Resort Ltd. at Teknaf Sea Beach is the strongest currently verifiable southern-coast base, though it is not beside Shamlapur itself. Star-rated comfort: Trip.com lists Central Resort as 3-star; Sea Pearl at Inani is the nearest dependable 5-star alternative to the north, with no verified nearby 4-star choice. Landscape/community stay: arrange a directly confirmed family guesthouse in Baharchhara or Shamlapur through a trusted local contact. No formal community homestay was confidently verified, so never prepay an unconfirmed listing.
