Hilltop Resorts in Bandarban

Where the clouds settle at eye level Bangladesh's most dramatic hilltop stays.

Bandarban's hill resorts have redefined what luxury travel in Bangladesh looks like. Sairu Hill Resort, perched 18 km from Bandarban town along the Chimbuk–Nilgiri road, sits on a 12-acre hilltop site with a 360-degree panoramic view and an infinity pool—on clear days, guests report being able to see the Bay of Bengal from the property itself. Its design was shaped in partnership with a Mro tribal headman, giving the resort a genuine connection to the indigenous communities of the hill tracts alongside its eco-friendly architecture and Shimul Tola cabin.

Nilgiri Hill Resort, at roughly 2,400 feet above sea level, remains one of the most requested properties in the district, with cottages named after local motifs and a reputation for cloud-level sunrise views that book out weeks in advance around holidays. Labah Tong Hill Resort has more recently emerged as a favourite for its artistic room design and infinity pool, adding a third serious contender to Bandarban's small but excellent circuit of hilltop luxury stays.

Plan Your Trip

  • When to visit: November–February for clear skies, or March–September for the resorts' signature low-drifting cloud views.
  • How to Travel: Bus or private car from Dhaka to Bandarban town (roughly 8–9 hours), then a local jeep for the final hilltop approach.
  • Where to Stay: Sairu Hill Resort, Nilgiri Hill Resort, Labah Tong Hill Resort.
  • Recommendations: Book at least a month ahead for Nilgiri around holidays, and confirm jeep transfer arrangements with your resort in advance—the final approach roads are steep and best not self-driven.
